Jerome Ralph Jay, Sr. was born August 17, 1952 in Pompano Beach, Florida to the late Roscoe Jay and the late Estella Black Holmes. Jerome was educated at Charles R. Drew Elementary School and graduated from Blanche Ely High School of Broward County Public School System. He was an entrepreneur and proudly operated Jay's Produce. Jerome was also employed at Jay's Ice Cream for several years and at Mimimantte Machinery. His work career ended due to his failing health. Jerome joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Pompano Beach at an early age. Jerome enjoyed playing basketball, golfing, and swimming as hobbies. Jerome departed this life on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at his home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Otto Jay, Troy Lee Dixon, Jirrel Dylnn Jay, and Oscar Frank Dixon; two sisters, Marva Glasper and Veronica Dixon; one brother-in-law, Matt Sanders, and one sister-in-law, Angela Dixon. Jerome leaves to celebrate his life and spirit his step-father, Ralph Holmes, Sr.; his beloved former wife, Patricia Ann Jay Cohen; four sons, Derrick Jermaine Jay, Bobby Smite, Jerome Jay, Jr., and Jerriel (Angiea) Jay; daughter, Jalinqua (Derrick, Sr.) Glisson; ten grandchildren, Jemeshia Bennette Jay, Juwone Kelly Jay, Jahanekea Carter Jay, Jerkerqua Jay, Ja'Nayia Jay, Ja'Da Jay, Sha'Juan Johnson, Daquan Glisson Jay, Derrick Glisson, Jr, and Ju'Lissa Wilson Jay; twelve great-grandchildren; four brothers, Lee Calvin Jay, Joseph (Angela) Dixon, Sr., Nagge (Angela) BenYahweh, and Ralph (Fovette) Holmes, Jr.; four sisters, Beverly Jay, Celia Sanders, Joanne Dixon, and Marsha Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
