Jermaine “Cookie Black” Singleton was born April 24, 1980, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Joyce Ann Singleton.
Jermaine was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1999 graduate of Lakewood High School in Sumter, South Carolina.
Jermaine dedicated much of his life to working at McDonald’s (7745). He was known for his hardworking spirit and the relationships he built throughout his years of service. Jermaine had a deep passion for sports, music, hunting, and fishing. He was a devoted fan of the Carolina Panthers and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Whether watching from home or purchasing last-minute tickets to attend games in person, he rarely missed an opportunity to support his favorite teams. His love for sports brought him great joy and created lasting memories with family and friends.

Jermaine departed this life on Friday June 19, 2026, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jermaine shared a special bond with Kimberly’s children, Rhykme Young, Christopher Young, and Kareem Young, whom he loved as his own. He also held a special place in his heart for her grandson, Christian Young, whom he proudly embraced as his grandson; his cherished aunts and uncles, Thelma Brunson, Woodrow Singleton, Lee Andrew Singleton, Raymond Walker, Sampson Walker, Michael Walker, Delia Walker, and Virginia Canty; special relatives, Celeste Moore and Dwight Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
