Janet Smoot Robinson was born June 6, 1945, in Pinewood, South Carolina to the late Alexander and Leila McBride Smoot, Sr., and was one of thirteen children born to her parents. Jeannette was a state of South Carolina resident her entire life. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and attended Enon Baptist Church. Jeannette loved her family and treasured each moment with those she loved; her smile was one of the most precious qualities. One of her requests from family and those she loved was for candy and a mere fifty cents. Jeannette's favorite color was yellow. In 2022, Jeannette attended the Smoot Family Reunion in Baltimore, Maryland, where many relatives from various states attended. The highlight for her was being able to deliver the Welcome Address and being the eldest member of the Smoot Family. In her past times, she enjoyed watching Steve Harvey on Family Feud. She blessed our family with her presence as well as her smile. We learned through her and her untimely passing to treasure the gift of life every single day. Jeannette was married to the late Canty Robinson, Sr. and they were married on September 23, 1966, and to this union two children were born. In addition to her husband and parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by eleven siblings, and a son-in-law, Roosevelt Mack. Jeanette departed this life on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in Sumter, South Carolina. Jeanette leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Theresa Robinson-Mack; a son, Canty (Pamela) Robinson, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Steven (Janita) Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, ShaKeisha Johnson, Wyccina Durant, Christopher Robinson, Jasmine Robinson and Carla Robinson; her great grandchildren; sister, Flossie Mae Smoot-Vereen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jeanette will "forever" be a flower that will bloom within our hearts. May your soul rest in eternal Peace.
