On December 4, 1955, the Lord blessed Mary, Sammie Lewis and James Green, Sr. with their first-born son, James “Romeo” Green, Jr.
James received his education in the public schools of Sumter County. He took every opportunity to attend church, always expressing his deep love for God. He had a true passion for worship and would walk to church whenever he had the chance. James enjoyed collecting cans, dancing, fishing, listening to music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by many, near and far—a true people person who made friends everywhere he went.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Sammie and Mary Singelton-Lewis, and James Green, Sr.; nephew, Brandon Green; grand nephew, Christopher A. Thompson; and brothers-in-law, James Grant and Donnie McCall.
James “Romeo” Green, Jr. slipped in the arms of the Lord on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Millennium Post Acute Rehabilitation in West Columbia, SC.
James leaves to cherish his memories four sisters, Rosa (Matthew) Kelley of Union, SC, Debra (James) Grant of Sumter, SC, Mary (Willie Kelley) Green of Sumter, SC, and Tarsa (Donnie McCall) Green of Sumter, SC; three brothers, Jimmy (Jackie Moremi) Green of Sumter, SC, William (Sadie Burroughs) Green of Sumter, SC, and Thomas Green of Sumter, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
