Mr. Isaiah "Dew" Gooden, affectionately known as "Dew," was born on August 31, 1946, in Wedgefield, South Carolina, to the late Nathiel and Rosa Wright Gooden.
Isaiah received his education through the Sumter County School District.
During his early adult years, he worked alongside his father in various construction jobs, where he developed a strong work ethic and appreciation for honest labor. He remained close to his father and resided with him until his passing in 1978.
Following the loss of his father Nathiel Gooden, Isaiah continued to demonstrate remarkable independence and determination; he could manage his daily life and personal needs. Though quiet and reserved by nature, he possessed a keen sense of observation and a warm, contagious smile that endeared him to family and friends alike.
Isaiah found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved listening to music and was especially fond of classic black-and-white Western movies, which he often enjoyed watching with his devoted brother and longtime caregiver, Ransom Gooden. Their bond was one built on love, loyalty, and unwavering dedication.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, Isiah peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at his home. He was surrounded by the love and comfort of his beloved baby sister, Rosa Lee Gooden Overby and his devoted brother and caregiver, Ransom Gooden.
Isaiah was preceded in death by his parents, Nathiel and Rosa Wright Gooden; brothers, Andrew “Jake” Gooden, Albertus “Bert” Wright, Sr., and Nathaniel Gooden, Jr.; sisters, Malvina “Snookie” Gooden Foreman, Elvira Gooden, and Dorothy Mae “Ticky” Gooden.
Isaiah leaves to cherish his memory are his loving siblings: Annie Mae Parker “Nummie” of Atlantic City, New Jersey; Ransom Gooden of Wedgefield, South Carolina; and Rosa Lee Gooden Overby of Wedgefield, South Carolina. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Gooden (Nathiel Gooden, Jr.) of Wedgefield, South Carolina and Mrs. Margaret P. Wright (Albertus “Bert” Wright, Sr).
A special place in his heart was held by his beloved nieces, Ranva Gooden and twin nieces, RoShawnda and RoShetta Gooden, daughters of Ransom and Rosalind Gooden, all of Columbia, South Carolina. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and love they shared with him.
Although Isaiah's earthly journey has ended, his gentle spirit, warm smile, and quiet strength will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
