Mr. George Lee Madison, Jr., affectionately known as “Boobie” was born to the late Mr. George Lee Madison, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Taylor Madison on August 3, 1940, in Pinewood, SC.

George attended the public schools of Sumter County. He was reared in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a faithful member of New Hope UME Church.

George dedicated 48 years of his life to ECB Construction as a foreman, where he not only built many homes and businesses, but also lifelong friendships and a reputation for honesty, reliability, and dedication. After nearly 5 decades of faithful service, he retired with the respect and admiration of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

George found peace on the water with a fishing rod in his hand, Fishing was one of his greatest joys providing him with countless memories and treasured moments with family and friends.

George was well known throughout his community as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand whether it was repairing a home, assisting with construction projects, offering advice, or simply showing up when someone was in need.

George was the beloved patriarch of his family, leading by example through hard work, integrity, and compassion. He will be missed dearly and the values he lived by will continue to guide those who knew and loved him.

George was united in holy matrimony to the late Mae Etta Shannon Madison in April of 1957, and to this loving union eight children were born. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters, two grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, and one son-in-law.

George departed this life on Friday, June 26, 2026, at his residence in Pinewood, SC.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, five daughters, Georgia Madison-Lewis, Loretta Madison, and Ashley Madison of Pinewood, SC; Susie (Edward) White of Columbia, SC; and Barbara Jean Madison of New York, NY; three sons, Louis (Christine) Madison of Sumter, SC; Leroy (Maxine) Madison and William (Aletha) Shannon of Pinewood, SC; one sister, Lillie White of Sumter, SC; one grandchild reared in the home, Kamiya Gooden; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Beverly “Sandy” Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
