Obituary George "Bootsie/Man Blackwell was born October 1, 1928 in Alcolu, SC to the late Sammie Blackwell and Iola Harrison Blackwell Kingwood. He was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. He was married to the late Pearl McDowell Blackwell. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, Willie R. Blackwell and Ulysses Blackwell, a sister, Mable Scott and a grandson, Timothy Shantwaine McCray. He departed this life on Friday, December 10, 2021 in Sumter He leaves to cherish his memories; four sons, George (Rochelle) Blackwell, Henry (Cassie) Blackwell, Jerome Blackwell and Timothy (Betty) Blackwell; four daughters, Claudia Lee, Carolene (Frank) Davis, Pearlean Franklin and Patricia Blackwell; granddaughter reared in home, Claudette Blackwell; two sisters, Elizabeth Canty and Otelia Blackwell; four step-brothers, Willie Kingwood, Dennis Blackwell, Glenn Blackwell and Michael Blackwell; four step-sisters, Evangelist Laura White, Julia Green, Nellie Kingwood and Lillie Lewis; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.   To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of George, please visit our floral store.
