Obituary

Frankie Y. Myers Crawford was born November 11, 1954, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Rosa Mae Myers and Frank Hickman. Frankie was raised in Paterson, New Jersey and educated in the public schools of Paterson and was a member of the graduating class of 1972 from JFK High School in Paterson, New Jersey. Frankie later continued her education endeavors and received certifications from Midlands Technical College in Medical Terminology & Cardiac Care. After spending most of her young adult life in New Jersey, she relocated to Virginia in 1988, to South Carolina in 1992, and ultimately purchased her forever home in Eastover, South Carolina in 2003. Upon her return to South Carolina, Frankie worked several years for Prisma Health Richland, also known as Richland Memorial Hospital, as well as Lutheran Services of the Carolinas. After her retirement, Frankie decided to reenter the workforce and joined the Hammond School Security Team, where she served as a school crossing guard.  Frankie was a member of the Drew Wellness Center (DWC), where she would participate in several of their group exercise classes. While at DWC, Frankie made new friends, who would become more like family.  Frankie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Prior to joining the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, South Carolina. Frankie, becoming aware of the need for service within the deaf community, became American Sign Language (ASL) certified. She would go on to serve in the Deaf Ministry at First Baptist Church for many years. Upon joining the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, Frankie continued her journey of service to the body of Christ by becoming a member of the United Methodist Women in Faith, Mechanicsville United Methodist Church Mission and Outreach Committee, a woman in Faith Bible Study Teacher, a Worship Leader and a Certified Lay Speaker. Frankie was married to the late Tyrone Crawford. In addition to her mother, Rosa Mae Myers and her husband, Tyrone Crawford, Frankie was preceded in death by her daughter, Nena Gilmore; and sister, Wanda Satterwhite. Frankie, Ms. Frankie, Londa, Auntie, Aunt Londa, Grandma, Mah, and friend departed this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina. Frankie leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Roshan (Toreeka) Myers; grandchildren, Quayshon Myers, Ahlea Myers and Tyra Myers; nieces, Chrystal (Andre) Washington and Thea Satterwhite; great nieces, Ashli Myers, Alaysia Washington, and Andrea Washington; aunts, Joyce Porchea and Teresa Porchea; cousins she assisted in their upbringing, Roshiema James and Niree James; and a host of aunts, cousins, family, and dear  friends.
