Emma was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, and after which, she was employed with Manchester Farms and Gold Kist. Emma was affectionately known as "Honeybee" by many family members and friends. She loved family gatherings and babysitting children. Emma was the aunts that none of her nieces and nephews played with because she kept it real. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by three brothers, James Edward Mickens, John Anthony Mickens, and Robert Lee Mickens; and two brothers-in-law, James Rogers and Henry Bethea. On Thursday, February 9, 2023, our sweet, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Emma, departed this life in Columbia, South Carolina. Emma leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Robert Taylor (Larry Peoples); three children, Eric Peoples, Derrick Peoples, and Anthony Peoples, all of Sumter, SC.; twenty-one grandchildren; six great grandchildren; five sisters, Martha (Herbert) Harriet, Shirley Bethea, Laura (Vincent) Dunham, Mamie Lee Rogers, and Juanita Mickens; four brothers, Isaac (Martha) Mickens, Bobby (Genera) Mickens, Sammie Lee Mickens, and Reginald (Debra) Mickens, all of Sumter, SC; special friend, Gayle Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
