Obituary Deacon Elliot, affectionally known as "Big E" Boler was born January 15, 1972 at Sydenham Hospital in Manhattan, NY to Clarice Boler and Joe A. James.Elliot began his early education in Manhattan, NY, the family moved to Sumter, SC in 1978 where he attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School in 1992. Elliot furthered his studies at Central Carolina and graduated with an Associates of Arts Degree in 2000.Elliot joined Grace Cathedral Ministries during his youth under the leadership of Apostle Sammy C. Smith. Elliot was a faithful member to the ministry, serving on the following ministries until his heal failed, Deacon Board, The Men of Purpose Ministry, The Culinary Ministry and compassionately served as head of the Transportation Ministry. When called upon, Elliot would drive the prisoners whenever and wherever the Ministry was called to serve.Elliot's employment through the years consisted of the following: a bus driver for the Sumter School District and Adult Daycare. He worked as a substitute teacher for the school district, Sumter Housing Authority and a cashier for Walmart Gas Station.Elliot was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to many. He was always eager to lend his time and helping hand to everyone. Elliot was a willing worker.Elliot was preceded in death by his, maternal and paternal grandparents, two uncles and a daughter.Elliot departed this life on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in Columbia, SC.Elliot leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his wife, Nakia Melson Boler; his children, Kiara Boler, Sevetrice Boler, Taliana Boler, Nasiah Boler and Eljah Boler and two additional children raised as his own, Destiny Ragin and Zachariah Roberson; his mother, Clarice Boler of Wedgefield, SC; father, Joe A. James of Sumter, SC; sister, Jewel Dixon; brother, Everett (Vonetta) Dixon; two aunts, Sharon (Darren) Johnston and Maggie Boler; three uncles, Rodney Boler, Donald (Lisa) James and Troy (Jamelia) James; three grand aunts, Doris Boler, Dorothy Boler and Geneva Fields; grand uncle, William Boler; three sisters-in-law, Tawana Melson, Sheleda (Matrell) Busby and Tameka (Freddie) Boggs; two brothers-in-law, William (Kellie) Melson and Solomon (Melanie) Melson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM from Grace Cathedral Ministries 60 Oswego Hwy Sumter, SC with Bishop Anthony Gibson, Pastor and Officiant.A public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the mortuary.The family is receiving friends at the resident, 204 Oswego Highway Sumter, SC 29150.
