"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful." - 2 Timothy 4:7 Elizabeth B. Brunson, daughter of the late George W. Burkett, Sr. and Mattie Campbell Burkett, was born on April 6, 1932 in Sumter County, South Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Prisma Health in Sumter, South Carolina. Elizabeth was lovingly known as "Mother Brunson" by her church family. Mother Brunson was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She was a homemaker for her loving family. She was a member of Willow Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church in Horatio, SC and later she joined St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sumter, SC. At St. Paul she served on the Usher Board, Pastor's Aide Staff, as a Missionary and sang on the Senior Choir. Weekly, she led the noonday prayer service on Tuesdays. She started an annual prayer breakfast at St. Paul and was a licensed Missionary. Mother Brunson loved spending time with her grandchildren and great, grandchildren. She would gather her grands at her house on the weekend for cooking classes. Mother Brunson leaves to cherish her memory her children, Christine (David) Miller, Samuel (Carol) Brunson, Regethal Richbow, Mattie (David) Pollard, Stanley (Lessie) Brunson, Dr. Shirrie (Michael) Miller, Frankie Brunson and Ira (Terry Snow) Miller in Sumter County, SC. She is survived by one sister, Magnolia White, New Haven, CT. Precious memories will also be cherished by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and other relative and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Brunson, Jr. Mother Brunson's favorite songs were Amazing Grace; Better Days are Coming; and Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross. Mother Brunson was a faithful and dedicated Woman of God. She truly loved the Lord. Whenever she was asked, "How are you doing?" Her reply was "Blessed and thankful."
