Eddie Jones was born June 9, 1982 in Bronx, New York to Vivian Jones (Carlos) Fernandez and the late Michael Merritt. Eddie relocated to Sumter at an early age. During this time, he attended Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Marion H. Newton and Youth Pastor, Ricky Simmons. Eddie was educated in the public schools of Bronx, New York and Sumter SC and graduated from Sumter High School. He was employed by Amazon as a delivery driver. Eddie was a great father, son, brother, cousin, conversationalist, song writer, and an awesome musician. Eddie loved reading, writing, playing chess, video games, being a comedian and most importantly, a lover of music. Eddie's love of music was ferocious and his talents started very early. He easily picked up tunes and implemented his own sounds within; all coming from within him and resulting in a multitude of CD's, videos, recordings and talent shows. His style, his grace and humbleness was displayed in his music. Intuitive, laid back and soft spoken was just a few of the characteristics that Eddie embodied. Eddie Jones was a real time traveler and Our Gentle Giant. Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Michael Merrit; grandfather, Eddie Jones, Sr.; grandmother, Amanda O. Jones; and aunts, Clealia Jones, Andree Davis and Damita Jones. Eddie Jones departed this earthly life and gained his heavenly wings on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at his home in Sumter, SC. Eddie leaves to cherish his precious memories, his daughter, Angel Love Jones of the home; mother, Vivian (Carlos) Fernandez; two brothers, Xavier Jones of San Diego, CA, and Luis Fernandez of Queens, New York; two sisters, Ericka Fernandez of Sumter, SC and Evelyn Fernandez of Long Island, New York; a very special aunt, Villia Jones of Sumter, SC; and a host of other special aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
