Deneith Graves

Deneith Graves, better known to family and friends as Nycee, was born to Woodrow Rogers and Rose Lee Rogers in Brooklyn, New York on August 3, 1962.

Deneith spent summers with her grandmother, Roisner Woodberry, and attended Brittons Neck High School her freshman year in South Carolina. She graduated from Maxwell High School located in Brooklyn, New York. She went on on to complete her Masters Degree from Strayer University in Business Administration. Nycee retired in 2025 after serving 30 years as a government contractor.

Throughout her life, Deneith demonstrated she was a woman of strength, resilience and determination. The pride and joy of her life wasn't her stellar commitment to the government or even her education, it was her girls. Her three daughters; LaToya, LaKyra and LaShonza, whom she shared with her ex-husband, Blonza Lee Graves. She was also a loving and devoted grandmother to her granddaughter, Autumn Miller, who she called "Autumn Bell", held a very special place in her heart.

Nycee grew up surrounded by family, music and unforgettable stories. Her love of music continued into adulthood as she was always singing and dancing and attending "shows" to see her favorite artists. She enjoyed anything true crime and we think she secretly wanted to be a detective. She was a grill master and you were lucky if you were invited when she was on the grill. Having been a military spouse, she traveled many different places and made life long friends along the journey. She took her friendships seriously and loved and cherished the relationships with her close friends. In her spare time she enjoyed playing with her grand fur baby HIT, reading fictional books and completing word search puzzles. She also had a green thumb; her plants were always gorgeous, no matter the season. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she had a childlike excitement for the festive decorations , movies and time spent with loved ones.

Nycee was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Rose Lee Rogers, as well as her sister, Deanna Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Toya, Kyra and Shonza Graves; her beloved granddaughter, Autumn Miller; and her siblings, Renee Rogers Dunham, Evelyn Rogers Dawson and Eric Rogers. She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and cherished friends whose lives were touched by her presence.

Nycee will be remembered for the love she gave, the strength she carried, and the family she cherished so deeply. She was admired, loved, and respected, and her presence brought meaning and memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
