Deloris Peggie Tomlin

Obituary Ms. Deloris Peggie Tomlin answered the call to a new life of eternal rest as she transitioned from this life on February 26, 2021 in Columbia, South Carolina. She began her earthly journey on August 3, 1942 being born to the late Mr. Ferdinand Stewart and the late Ms. Edrena Mack. Ms. Deloris Peggie Tomlin was educated in the Sumter County Public Schools with the 1961 Class of Eastern School. She returned and completed school receiving her High School Diploma in 1978 from Sumter Adult Education. Ms. Deloris Peggie Tomlin was employed with Becton-Dickinson of Sumter for 35 years until she retired in 2003. She then became a caregiver for her mother while also becoming a homemaker for her children, grandchildren and eventually her great grandchildren. G-Ma, Grandma, or “Miss Peggie” as she was affectionately called provided a loving and caring home for her family. She was a very sweet person with a humble and soft spirit which she used to foster and instill perseverance, determination, charity, love and faith in the lives of many others who were blessed to have encountered her. Ms. Tomlin accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and joined Mulberry Baptist Church where she served God faithfully through the Usher Board, Missionary, and Senior Ministries. Precious memories of her life will be cherished by her loving and devoted children: Angela Tomlin-Hart and Darryl Tomlin of the home, Sharon (Kirk) Johnson of Sumter; two sisters Mary Ann (Johnnie) Rose and Nancy Griffin of Sumter; her adoring and faithful grandchildren: two granddaughters who became her caregivers pampering and spoiling G-ma with the same abundance of love she gave, Janice Baines and Treva (Leonard) Allen of Columbia; Andrena Hart of the home; Monica (Brandon) McCain, Marcus Johnson of Sumter; and Shanyce Baines of Charleston; three adopted granddaughters Jalyn Spann and Toni Mintz of Sumter; Joy Dukes of Rock Hill; six great grandchildren Andre Hart of the home, Brielle McCain of Sumter; Eli Garner of Charleston; and Jasmine, Jade, and Jamal Allen of Columbia; two sisters-in- law Alma D. Mack and Mary P. Mack both of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Ms. Tomlin was preceded in death by her first-born daughter, Sonia D. Baines; son-in-law, Ray O.
