Obituary

Debbie Regina Spann was born January 29, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York to Carrie Lewis Oaks and the late Henry Oaks, Sr. She was married to the late Stanley Murphy.   Debbie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church. She attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Hillcrest High School Class of 1988. During her life she worked as a Professional Healthcare Aid. Debbie was also employed by Hardee's of Sumter SC, the Coca Cola Plant of Bishopville SC, and the Sumter School District. She enjoyed spending time with her family, but most of all, her grandchildren. Debbie also enjoyed shopping at yard sales, going to concerts and getting her hair and nails done. She especially enjoyed the act of giving to friends and family during the holidays and on special occasions.   In addition to her father and her husband, Debbie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents. Debbie departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Debbie leaves to cherish her glamorous memories, three children, Tamisha (Kenny) McFadden, Yavonte (Damonica Irick) and Sandreka Murphy; one brother, Curtis (Barbara) Spann; mother, Carrie L. Oaks; five grandchildren, Omarian, Curayn, Kameran, Nolan and Kamir; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Murphy and Cyntoria Murphy; two brothers-in-law, Michael Murphy and Nelson Murphy; five adoptive siblings, Damond Lewis, Johnny Lewis, Teresa Lewis, Kiara Lewis and Tyquan Lewis; two special friends, Sharon Caudle-Lesane and Helen Jackson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children and friends.
