Obituary

Obituary David "Duke" Johnson was born June 1, 1947 in Lynchburg SC, to the late Margaret and Joe Johnson. He was raised in a Christian home and was a member of St. Peter A.M.E. church in Mayesville, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Eastern High class of 1967. Duke served our country in the United States Army and was honorable discharged. He worked most of his life as an auto mechanic serving those within the local communities and this was his passion. In his spare time, Duke enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Raymond Tate, a granddaughter, Na'lique Tate, a sister Minnie McElveen, and a brother, Leroy Johnson. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife Dorothy Johnson, four children, David (Tamara) Tate of Sumter, SC, Tyree Tate of Lynchburg, SC, Darnell (Sharon) Sanderford of Florence, SC and Shawn Sanderford of Massachusetts, eleven grandchildren, one sister, Julia Sullivan of Washington DC, five brothers, William (Lorraine) Johnson, Joe (Willomenia) Johnson, Simon (Mardestine) Johnson, all of Lyncburgh SC, Jerry (Ethel) Johnson of Seat Pleasant, Maryland and Levern (Marian) Johnson of Forestville Maryland and a host of other relatives and friends.
