Obituary Retired Navy Veteran Clarence Vernell Dubose was born July 3, 1966, in Sumter, to the late Patsy Ann Dubose. He was raised by his late great-grandmother, Patsy Kennedy Dubose and Grand-Aunt, Emma Dubose Kimes. Also sharing in his upbringing, the late Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland (Gertrude) McBride along with Mrs. Dorothy McBride and their entire family. Clarence was a 1984 graduate of Sumter High School. Shortly afterwards, he enlisted in the US Navy. He received numerous medals and awards prior to retiring in October 2004. He was a member of the Church of God by Faith Sumter #1 in Sumter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an aunt, Mary Dubose Bruce and a cousin/sister, Jona Yvette Kimes. He departed this life on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at his home in Oakland, CA. He leaves to cherish his memories a sister, Lillian Dubose (Leon) Brock of Sumter, SC; grandparents, Lillie Mae (Matthew) Moses of Sumter, SC; two aunts, Brenda Fuller of Sumter, SC and Gwendolyn Wilson of Camden, SC; uncle, James Dubose, Jr of Baltimore, MD; cousins raised in home together as siblings, Jacqueline Kimes of Sumter, SC and William (Mahsa) Kimes of Alpharetta, GA; his niece, Krystal Tenton; nephews, Bryan Coakley, Carl Blair, Jr and Sheldon Kimes all of Sumter, SC and a host of additional nieces, nephews other relatives and friends To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Clarence, please visit our floral store.
