Christopher Malek Mickens was born April 8, 1997, in Sumter, South Carolina to Chastidy Mickens and Christopher Gamble. Chris was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. He was employed as a machine operator for several manufacturing companies. Chris loved spending time with his family and friends and playing basketball. He was a great son, brother, father, uncle, nephew and cousin. He was such a character and there was never a dull moment when he was in your presence. Chris was a dedicated hard worker, and his heart was as big as his head. He would walk in the desert if someone needed him to do so. If you knew him then you know he was more of a brother than a friend or cousin. He proclaimed, he was the grill master. There wasn't anything he couldn't do, he was a hero. Chris blessed us here on this earth with his presence for twenty-eight (28) years. Chris was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Jeanette Mickens and Loretta Gamble; his grandfather, Albert T. Burroughs, Jr.; two aunts, Josia Gamble and Cloretta Wilson and one uncle, William Ford. Chris departed this life on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in Sumter, South Carolina. Chris leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Malek Mickens; one daughter, Maleya Mickens; mother, Chastidy Mickens; father, Christopher Gamble; four sisters, Katisha Mickens, Juanita Mickens, Endya Cooper and Aniya Holmes; three brothers, Dominique Mickens, Desmond Gamble and Calek Gamble; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; the mother of his children, Briea Hughes; a special friend, Tiffany Brown.
