He was a very talented Brick Mason, with a host of other talents that he enjoyed doing. A Time to Love He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Licen Sweat. To this union, there were eight children, two preceded him in death. A Time to Worship In his youth, he joined Fourth Cross Road Baptist Church and remained a member until his passing. A Time to Die On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey in Sumter, South Carolina, God called ~ Mr. Charles Edward Sweat, Sr ~ to rest from his labors. A Time to Mourn He leaves to mourn his passing, four daughters, Vanessa (Antonal) Britt, and Tracey Sweat of Manning, South Carolina, Malaysia Sweat, and Brittany Sweat of Irmo, South Carolina; two sons, Charles Edward Sweat, Jr., and Darrick Sweat of Alcolu, South Carolina; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Rebecca (Roosevelt) Sinkler of Pinewood, South Carolina, Mrs. Nancy Deloris Rose of Sumter, South Carolina, and Victoria Gibson of Orangeburg, South Carolina, two brothers, Cleveland (Robertha) Sweat of Manning, South Carolina, Calvin (Mary) Johnson of Paxville, South Carolina; five sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Sweat, Eartha Lee Smith Johnson, and Edith Sweat of Sumter South Carolina, Annie Jean Johnson of Alcolu, South Carolina, Kathy Licen of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; two special cousins reared in the home: James Clark of Sumter South Carolina, Emma Clark Adger of Manning, South Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Mr. Charles Edward Sweat, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife Mattie Elizabeth Licen Sweat, his parents, the late Mr. Wesley Sweat and Mrs. Ethel Benbow Sweat Johnson, mother and father in-law, the late Mr. Henry Licen and Mrs. Mary Lou Mcleod Licen, two children, seven brothers, West Allen Sweat, Willie James Sweat, Sr., Douglas Johnson, Henry Lee Johnson, Albertus Johnson, Johnny Moses Johnson, and Ronnie Johnson, two sisters, Virdia Mae McBride and Ruthie Mae Rose; and six brother in-laws, Wigfall "Junior" Rose, P.J. McBride, Henry Allen Licen, David Elliot Licen, Richard Gibson, and Abraham Rose.
