Charles Bernard McCray was born May 2, 1966, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Margaret McCray Davis. Charles was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. After high school he attended the Job Corp.  Charles was known for his outgoing personality and willingness to help anyone in need.  He was a loving person to all who knew him. Charles loved to dance and always gave his family a reason to laugh.  In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Ella McCray; great grandparents, Aaron and Winnie Williams; aunt, Winnie Sue Smith; and two uncles, Willie McCray and David McCray. Charles departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in Sumter, South Carolina. Charles leaves to cherish his memories, a sister, Marva McCray; two brothers, Elvin McCray and Alonzo (Tody) Howard, all of Sumter, South Carolina; a special aunt, Elouise Evans of Sumter, South Carolina; three aunts, Elizabeth M. Wise of Sumter, South Carolina, Carol (Darren) Know of Rembert, South Carolina and Dorothy (Thurman) Starnes of Sumter, South Carolina; one uncle, Johnny Lee McCray; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends and close friend and caregiver, Willie Mayrant. Charles' memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
