Carrie Pugh Johnson

Carrie Pugh Johnson was born on September 3, 1940, in Pinewood, South Carolina, to the late Robert Pugh Sr. and Cora Johnson Pugh.

Carrie accepted Christ at an early age and became a member Of St. John Baptist Church in Pinewood, South Carolina. She remained steadfast in her Christian faith throughout her life. Alongside her late husband, Henry Johnson, she continued her Christian journey as a faithful member of St. James AME Church in Pinewood, South Carolina.

Carrie received her education in the public school system of Sumter County, South Carolina, and was a proud graduate of Manchester High School.

Carrie was a hardworking and dedicated woman who was employed for many years at Bosch and Gold Kist, both in Sumter, South Carolina. During her years of employment, she formed many lasting friendships. Many of those dear friends became more like family, creating bonds and memories that Carrie treasured throughout her life.

Carrie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Johnson; a son, Willie Lee Pugh; two daughters, Rebecca Pugh and Deloris Pugh; and her great-granddaughter, Jiajah Lloyd.

On Monday, September 21, 2026, Carrie peacefully made her transition from this earthly life. Her life was filled with faith, family, friendship, and countless moments that will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Carrie leaves to cherish her loving memory a special friend, Jerry Walker of Pinewood, South Carolina; two sons, Dana (Pam) Pugh and Issac Pugh, both of Pinewood, South Carolina; a special nephew whom she helped raise, Jason (Josephine) Pugh; three special nieces whom she helped raise, Brenda Pugh Walker, Shirley Richardson, and Stacey Pugh; nephew, Marion K. Pugh; nieces, Willen Pugh, Betty Johnson and Carrie Ann Robinson; ten (10) grandchildren, twenty-three (23) great-grandchildren, and one (1) great-great-grandchild, each of whom carries a special part of her love and memory.

Carrie’s life and memory will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, two special cousins, Shelia Robinson and Annie Mae Green, other relatives, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were touched by her presence.

Carrie's journey on earth may have come to an end, but the love she gave, the faith she carried, the family she helped nurture, and the memories she created will continue through generations.

Her legacy will forever live in the hearts of those blessed to have known and loved her.
