Carol (Carolyn) J. Gavin was born on November 9, 1965, in Sumter, South Carolina, to the late Cleveland Grant and Tena Loney Sinkler. Carol attended Sumter County Public Schools. She became a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was baptized under the leadership of the late Dr. L. W. Walker, Sr.  Carol transitioned from her earthly life on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at her home in Sumter, South Carolina.  Carol leaves to cherish her memories, two dedicated children, Adrian D. Washington and Christina J. (Jamar) Butler, both of Sumter, South Carolina; three siblings, Ernestine (Willie) Jenkins of Sumter, South Carolina, Ricky (Beverly) Grant of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Angel Daniels of Sumter, South Carolina; five loving grandchildren, Jivon, Markell, Mekhijah, Amon, and Jordon; special niece, Jennifer N. Sweat of Sumter, South Carolina; four nephews that she adored, Jarmaine R. Sweat of Sumter, South Carolina, Diamante (DJ) Mckelvie of Charlotte, North Carolina, Josiah B. Sweat and Landon C. Wiley, both of Sumter, South Carolina; bonus sister, Joyce B. Daniels of Sumter, South Carolina; and a hosts of other nieces, nephews, devoted family members and friends.
