Obituary

Obituary Burley Eugene Hudson Jr. Departed this life to be with his savior on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. He was beloved by all who knew him as well as throughout his community. A man dedicated to making sure others didn't go without, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. Burley was born December 19, 1960, in Sumter. He was the son of the late Burley Hudson Sr. and Catherine Hudson (Magazine). He was educated in the public schools of Sumter, SC. He graduated from Sumter High School in 1979 after which he was a student at Morris College for a brief period before enlisting in the U.S Navy. While enlisted in the U.S Navy Burley served as an Aviation Mechanic from 1979-1984. After his time in the navy, Burley worked as an Arborist with Asplundh Tree Company after which time he obtained his CDL and worked as an OTR truck driver with Bulldog Hi-way Express and Werner Enterprises. In the latter years Burley was in business for himself doing tree work which was another passion that was a big part of his life. A Man of Many talents! Burley was indeed a man of many talents. He loved to fish, hunt and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Burley was also well known in the community as the "Karate man" or "Kung Fu," due to his love and passion for practicing and teaching multiple styles of Jujitsu and Kung Fu. Burley was very talented and heavily rewarded with medals and trophies in the Jujitsu circuit. He loved to laugh and have a good time as well as cook and enjoy good food. He leaves to cherish His memory and legacy a daughter Natorshia Hudson, a granddaughter Jada Hudson, a special friend Glenda Jackson, one brother Esau (Betty) Green, a sister Deloris (John) Lewis and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents the late Burley Hudson Sr. and Catherine Hudson, a brother Raymond Magazine and a grandmother Lucille Singleton.
