Mrs. Betty Mae Pellman Johnson was born August 30, 1950, in Sumter, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Elder James W. Pellman, Sr. and Lou Ethel Jones Pellman. At an early age, Betty began her walk with God, reared in the Church of God by Faith and later served under her father on the youth and adult choirs. She later became a member of Cross Road Christian Fellowship Ministries and faithfully served under Apostle Sylvester Francis. She was a trusted member of the church's Hospitality Ministry, Pastor Support, and Choir. Betty was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School. Betty Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Elder James and Lou Pellman, Sr; three brothers, Junior Lee Jones, Leroy Harvin, Sr., and Charles Pellman; and two nieces, Rosemary Jones McGhaney and Trina Yarbrough. Betty Mae Pellman departed this life on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter, South Carolina. She leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters, Sonia (Eric) Conyers of Sumter, SC, Andrea (Joseph) Govan of Charleston, SC, Juanita "Elaine" (Corey) Hill of Sumter, SC, and Tanisha Ragins of Sumter, SC; two sons, Leroy Thomas Ragins III of Sumter, SC and Dontae (Rotisha) Ragins of Santee, SC; one sister, Juanita Pellman (Wilford) Ford of Columbia, SC; three brothers, James Pellman, Jr., Jerome Pellman, both of Columbia, SC, and Karl (Bridget) Pellman of Tallahassee, FL; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
