Bernice McBride was born July 30, 1959, in Sumter South Carolina to the late Dorothy Mae Wright McBride and the late Eugene York.  Bernice attended the public schools of Sumter County.  Later in life, she became a mother of three and a caretaker. She traveled the world with her daughter while caring for her two older grandsons. Bernice was a beautiful woman with a strong soul and she fought to the very end.  She will be dearly missed by many, but her spirit will continue to live. In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her grandson, Ronald "Delvonte" Dawson; one sister, Katie Mae McCray; and two brothers, Clyde McBride, Jr. and O'Neal McBride.  Surrounded by her children, Bernice McBride departed this earthly life on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in Huntsville, Alabama. Bernice leaves to cherish in her memory, one daughter, Antoinette Mitchell of Madison, Alabama; two sons, Reginald McBride of Huntsville, Alabama and Kevin McBride of Sumter, South Carolina; siblings, Dyann Coleman, Betty Jean Brandon, and Glory (Otis) McBride, all of Sumter, South Carolina; Willie McBride of Charleston, South Carolina, James (Rose) McBride of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Edward (Tanya) McBride, and Anthony McBride, both of Sumter, South Carolina; grandchildren, Nelson (Jessica) Daniels of Huntsville, Alabama, Shakyia McBride of Hampton, Virginia, Tyjah McBride of Great Falls, Minnesota, Adrienne Chanel of Madison, Alabama, Tyreek McBride, DaQuan Drayton and Kevion Bradley, all of Sumter, South Carolina; and three great- grandchildren, JaQuan Daniels, JaCeon Daniels, and Delilah Dawson, all of Madison, Alabama; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
