Bernard "Lump"
Morris
July 18, 1961 – March 8, 2026
Bernard “Lump” Morris was born July 18, 1961, at Harlem Hospital in New York City. He was the third of seven children born to the late Chauncey Alston and Julia Morris.
Bernard grew up on 131st Street between Fifth and Lenox Avenue, affectionately known in the family as “the block.” It was there that he developed lifelong friendships, a deep love for family, and a joyful spirit that stayed with him throughout his life. He attended PS 201 and later Brandeis High School in Manhattan. As a young man, Bernard loved playing basketball, spending time with his cousins, and enjoying the vibrant energy of Harlem.
Bernard was a master craftsman, gifted with extraordinary skill in floor care and restoration. He worked for several companies in both New York and North Carolina before establishing his own business, R&B Floor Care Services. His craftsmanship touched many well-known spaces, including No Grease Barbershop, the Harvey B. Gantt Center, and Hawthorne Pizza. At the time of his passing, Bernard was proudly serving the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Building Environmental Services, bringing the same dedication, precision, and pride that defined his entire career.
Beyond his work, Bernard was a man of many passions. He loved to cook specialty dishes for his family, filling the home with warmth, laughter, and the smell of good food. He was deeply committed to physical fitness and mental well-being, spending much of his free time working out and encouraging others to take care of themselves. He enjoyed teaching people how to get stronger, healthier, and more confident. Bernard also loved music of every kind, traveling with his family, and making everyone around him laugh with his unforgettable sense of humor.
Above all, Bernard was a devoted family man. He shared 35 years of marriage with his loving wife, Robin, and was a proud father to two sons. His family was his heart, his joy, and his greatest accomplishment.
Bernard was preceded in death by his father, Chauncey Alston; mother, Julia Morris; and sisters, Annette (Warren) Watson, Matilda Morris, and Beverly Morris.
Bernard “Lump” Morris entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bernard “Lump” leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Robin “Seven” Morris; two sons, Malik Morris and Cameren Morris; siblings, Ronald Morris, Sheila (Greg) Shockley, and Chauncey (Tia) Morris; beloved aunts, Mavis Morris, the matriarch of the family, Doris Lange Leak, and Flo Alston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who loved him deeply.
Bernard lived a life full of purpose, generosity, and love. His hands built and restored, his words encouraged and uplifted, and his presence brought joy wherever he went. His legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched, the family he adored, and the memories that will forever live in our hearts.
Bernard “Lump” Morris will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
