Obituary

Brother Bennie Briggs was born on October 1, 1961, to the late Susie Mae Briggs in Sumter, South Carolina. Brother Briggs was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina and was a member of the graduating class of 1979 from Mayewood High School. In 1980, Brother Briggs enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a registered nurse. Brother Briggs accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Saint James Holiness Church. Brother Briggs was a very artistic and unique creator. He possessed the ability to draw and paint many art genres. Brother Briggs was a superb dresser. When he stepped out everyone saw that he was red carpet ready. He found enjoyment in spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Porscha and his grandchildren, Gabriel and Paris. He was filled with laughter and made very thought-provoking jokes. In addition to his mother, Susie Mae Briggs, Brother Briggs was preceded in death by two nephews, Jarvis Hudson and Tyrone Miller; and a brother-in-law, George Miller. Brother Briggs was called from labor to reward on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, South Carolina. Brother Briggs leaves to cherish his precious memories, daughter, Porscha Lesane; two grandchildren, Gabriel Trishten James and Paris Alexis Marie McLeod, all of Dalzell, South Carolina; two sisters, Sara (Larry) Hudson and Sylvan Miller, both of Sumter, South Carolina; three aunts, Mary Miller of Mayesville, South Carolina, Catherine Briggs and Janie Montgomery, both of Sumter, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
