Barbara Jean Moses was born January 5, 1955, in Olanta, South Carolina to the late Willie and Pauline Wells McDowell. Barbara attended the public schools in Wedgefield, South Carolina. Barbara had a love for family and friends. She encouraged those who needed to be encouraged and loved people. Barbara was married to the late Clifford Moses. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Moses; two sisters, Rosa Lee Morris and Linda Garner; and brother, Willie McDowell, Jr. On Saturday, November 22, 2025, as God was looking around His Heavenly Garden and saw her face, Barbara Moses, He came down and wrapped her in His arms and whispered sweet peace be yours as He carried her away to live forever with Him. Barbara memories will be cherished by those left behind, three daughters, Mary L. (Bobby) Gibson, Frances McDowell and Marrissa (Donald) Jackson, all of Sumter, South Carolina; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Bratton and Betty Williams; four brothers, Tony McDowell, George (Keya) McDowell, Jimmy McDowell and Michael Smith; one aunt, Ellen Robinson; one uncle, Robert Johnson; a special niece, Tesha Bratton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
