Ashby “Tyrone” Green, Jr. was born on July 5, 1973, in Sumter, South Carolina to Algie Mae Jennings Green and the late Ashby Green, Sr.
Tyrone received Christ in his life at an early age. He was a member of New Beginnings Church in Matthews, North Carolina and later joined New Hope Community Church in Sumter, South Carolina.
Tyrone was a man of quiet strength, genuine kindness, and unwavering integrity. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High, Class of 1991. He later dedicated 15 years of faithful service in the United States Navy. After retiring from the military, he spent the rest of his work life working as a contracted electrician where he earned the respect and admiration of his coworkers through his exceptional work ethic, dependability, and humble spirit. He believed in doing every job with excellence and took great pride in providing for his family.
Outside of being an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Tyrone found peace and happiness in fishing with his son, Ashby. Whether casting a line into quiet waters or simply enjoying the beauty of God's creation, those moments reflected the calm and patient spirit that defined his life. He appreciated life's simple pleasures and found joy in spending quality time with family, sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom that will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Above every accomplishment, Tyrone treasured his family. He was a caring and supportive father who led by example, teaching his children the importance of faith, honesty, hard work, and unconditional love. His gentle smile, warm heart, and willingness to help others made people naturally gravitate to him.
Tyrone was preceded in death by his beloved father; sister, Dr. Yolandra Shavon Green; and his grandparents, Alex and Joree Covington Jennings.
On Tuesday, August 26th, surrounded by the love of family and embraced by the grace of God, he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, SC to his eternal home.
Tyrone leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving mother, Algie Mae Green; one son, Ashby Tyon Green of Sumter, South Carolina; and one daughter, Asha Green of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; aunts, Rosa Lee Green of New Jersey, Rosa Lee Jennings, Rethea Green, Margaret Montgomery, Frances Montgomery, Rebecca Simon, Evelyn (Billy) Prioleau, Elder Janie (John) Dingle, Mattie Green and Minister Susie Laidler, all of Sumter, South Carolina; one uncle, Deacon James (Kammi) Simon of North Carolina; along with a host of other relatives, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his presence.
Each will hold close the precious memories, special moments, laughter, and love they shared with Tyrone.
