Annette Baker Brooks was born April 6, 1942, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Sam and Lucille Muldrow Baker, Sr. Annette was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. Annette was united in marriage to Loman Brooks, Jr., in 1959 and they shared eight (8) children together. Annette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was considered a jack of all trades and there was nothing that she could not do. Annette loved her family, cooking, knitting, gardening, and farming. She would often take other children as her own. Annette was a protector of her children and a great disciplinarian, and she didn't spare the rod! Annette had a strong faith, and in 1985, she was officially baptized and ordained a Jehovah Witness. She set a great example of how to deal with trials and tribulations and more importantly how to preserve in life; she relied on Jehovah's strength. She loved doing field service and talking about Jehovah. Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Loman Brooks, Jr.; her parents, Sam and Lucille Muldrow Baker, Sr.; a son, Robert Lee Brooks; three sisters, Martha Ree Baker, Joan Baker and Annie Bell English; three brothers, James Baker, Albert Baker and Eli W. Baker. Annette departed this life on Saturday, February 11, 2023, in Sumter, South Carolina. Annette leaves to cherish her memories, seven children, Henry Brooks, Sr., Jimmie Earl (Dorothy) Brooks, Kenneth Tyrone Brooks, Janice Lee Kirkland, Annie Lucille (Randy) Page, Irene Yvette (Frankie) Brunson and Dorothy Mae (Jerome) Ingram; twenty (20) grandchildren; thirty-three (33) great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Ray Baker, Victor Charles Baker, Sr. and Jerry (Cora) Baker; four sisters, Reverend Eartha Mae McLeod-Joe, Lucille Baker-Gailliard, Lurine Baker-Farmer and Francine Baker-Samuel; two brothers- in-law; six sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
