Deacon Andrew “Doc” Baldwin III, the husband of Annie Mae Holmes Baldwin was born on May 23,1937 in Sumter County, South Carolina to the late Deacon Andrew Baldwin and Maggie Pearson Baldwin, Jr.
Deacon Baldwin was educated in the public school system of Sumter County and received his high school education at Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. He received several certificates beyond high school from Morris College as well. He was employed at the Campbell Soup/Gold Kist Company from which he retired after twenty (20) plus years of service. After retirement, he worked as a bus driver for the Santee Wateree Regional Transportation Authority (SWRTA) for several years.
Deacon Andrew Baldwin III received Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized at the High Hills Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in several capacities. He has been a member of the High Hill Missionary Baptist Church for seventy-eight years. In 1963, Deacon Andrew Baldwin became the youngest on the Deacon Board for sixty-three years and worked as Church Clerk for nineteen of those years. Through these services he has received many accolades: Wateree Baptist Association Sunday School plaque, Deacon Emeritus Award, and a plaque from High Hill Missionary Baptist Church for forty-five years of dedicated service.
In addition to his parents, Deacon Baldwin was preceded in death by Mrs. Mary Choice Baldwin who raised him from the age of 3; daughter, Rosemary Blanding; two grandchildren, Corey Washington and Cedric Baldwin; four sisters, Rosalee Moore, Susan Glover, Elizabeth Williams and Eloise Baldwin; and brother, Algie Baldwin.
Deacon Baldwin departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at his home.
Deacon Baldwin leaves to cherish his precious memories, a loving and devoted wife of seventy-two years, Annie Mae Holmes Baldwin; devoted daughter, Patricia A. (Charlie) Clark of Summerville, SC; two devoted sons, Victor L Baldwin and Anthony L Baldwin both of Sumter, SC; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Maggie Williams of Smyyna, DE, Carrie Robinson of Chesapeake Bay, VA, Martha B. Peterson and Dorthy B Chatman, both of Sumter, SC; three aunts, Nell Baldwin of Sumter, SC, Minnie Long of Jacksonville, Fl and Catherine Stephens of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Deacon Andrew “Doc” Baldwin, III leaves behind so many that cherished his memories and grateful to those who have shared their life with him.
