Amelia Jacobs Mitchell was born February 22, 1943, in Mayesville, South Carolina to the late Henry Lee and Wilhelmenia Benjamin Jacobs. Amelia was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She was loved by her family and friends and enjoyed life to the fullest. Amelia was married to the late Pernell Mitchell. In addition to her parents and husband, Amelia was preceded in death by two sisters, Addie Wilson and Bertie Mae Rhames; two brothers, Henry Jacobs and Charlie Jacobs; four brothers-in-law, Henry Wilson, Clarence Rhames, Willie Morant and Eligah Ricks. In addition to her parents, Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, Pernell Mitchell, and a son, James Mitchell. Amelia departed this life on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Sumter, SC. Amelia leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Timothy Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell and Darrell Mitchell; four grandchildren, Raymard Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell Jr., Arielle Mitchell, and Amera Mitchell; seven sisters, Catherine Morants, Maggie Ricks, Roxanne (Patrick) Josey, Gloria Jacobs, Kotel (Phillip) King, Sally (Ervin) Norwood, and  Catherine Bridge; four brothers, Sammie (Sandra) Jacobs, Bennie (Jennifer) Wilson, Leon Jacobs, and James (Lois) Jacobs; two sisters-in-law, Johnnie Mitchell and Victoria Jacobs; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
