Obituary Mrs. Alfreda Barrows was born April 25, 1931 in Sumter, SC to the late Jessie and Thelma Smith Wynn.She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and united with Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, which is her family church. Alfreda later moved to Brooklyn, NY and pursued her education endeavors and received a Masters of Science in Education from the College of Staten Island. She began teaching with the New York City Department of Education in the early 1960's and retired from teaching in 1995.Upon her retirement, she returned back to Sumter, SC and reunited with Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member until her health begin to decline.Alfreda loved traveling the United States and abroad, she was full of spunk and was incredibly witty. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family dearly. She had a heart of gold and was certainly the matriarch of the family.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jo Ann Barrows.On January 28, 2019, the soul of our beloved mother, grandmother was called home by our Heavenly Father.Alfreda leaves to cherish her loving memory, to grieve her passing and to celebrate her homegoing her children, Donald (Edna) Barrows of Mayesville, SC and Sandra Barrows of Lumberton, NJ; seven grandchildren, Cassandra Brunson, Tamika Barrows, Daquan Vann, Antoinette Francois, Malik Barrows, Jalil Barrows and Dawan Barrows; ten great grandchildren; brother, Herbert Hoover (Mabel) Mack and a host of other relatives and friends.
