Alfred Brunson was born in Sumter County on June 13, 1945, to the late Deacon Pinkney Brunson and Meta Watson Brunson. Alfred was a graduate of Manchester High School where he played both basketball and football. Upon graduation, he furthered his education at Denmark Technical School in Denmark, South Carolina. Alfred was employed at Hill Plumbing for over 25 years. He later began work at Leesburg Training Center as an instructor. Upon leaving Leesburg Center, he became self-employed for many years until his health failed. Alfred was loved in his community and fondly known as the "Plumber Man". He was a great asset to the community where he helped many families with "kindness" and love. Being reared in a Christian home, he joined Calvary Baptist Church at an early age. While at Calvary, Alfred was a member of the Adult Choir, and he served as the Church Clerk. Alfred was married at an early age to Rebecca Salley. From this reunion he was blessed with two sons, Alfred L. Brunson, Jr. and Gene D. Brunson. He was also blessed with a daughter a few years later, Rebecca Mack. After a few years as a widow, he was joined into holy matrimony to Dorothy Junious. From this marriage, he was blessed with two sons, Eric Brunson and Anthonie Brunson. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Heyward Brunson and Eddie Brunson. Alfred Brunson peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday morning, June 27, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter, South Carolina. Alfred leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted wife of 45 years of the home, Dorothy Brunson; four sons, Alfred L. Brunson, Jr. of Sumter, SC, Gene D. Brunson of Monks Corner, SC, Eric Brunson of Pinewood, SC, and Anthonie Brunson of Rimini, SC; one daughter, Rebecca Mack of Sumter, SC; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Earl) Harvin of Sumter, SC; and one brother, Freddie Brunson of Pinewood, SC; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Brunson of Sumter, SC, Viola (Dawson) James, Susan Junious, Ozella Rich, all of Bronx, NY; two brothers-in-law, Robert Junious of Bronx, NY and Washington Stevens of Rimini, SC; two special friends, Leon Sinkler and Martha Grant Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
