Albert "Bert" Alexander Jenkins, Sr. was born August 27, 1951, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Emma Jenkins Purnell and the late John Henry Wilson. Bert was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He later trained in the Job Corps Program before entering the United States Army, where he served faithfully for eight (8) years and was honorably discharged. Bert worked as a mechanic for Stuckey Brother Shop. Bert enjoyed spending time watching sports, attending car races and working on many types of automobiles. In addition to his parents, Bert was preceded in death by his son, Albert Alexander Jenkins, Jr; four brothers, Abraham Washington, Willie Arthur Jenkins, Sr., George Washington and Isaac Washington. Bert departed this earthly life and entered his eternal rest on November 26, 2025, at his home in Sumter, South Carolina. Bert leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Carolyn Jenkins of Dalzell, South Carolina; daughter, Sabrina Jenkins of Dalzell, South Carolina; stepson, Vincent Mahoney of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Ciara Jenkins-Butler of Dalzell, South Carolina and Samuel Mahoney of Regensburg, Delaware; two sisters, Beulah Carter and Caroline Washington, both of Woodrow, South Carolina; uncle, Thomas (Barbara) Jenkins of Bladensburg, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Mahoney of Dalzell, South Carolina and Linda Mahoney of Columbia, South Carolina; special friend, Ned Wactor of Sumter, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
