Obituary Live Streaming Graveside Services for Ms. Griffin will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM please click link below. https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/nancy-l-griffin Ms. Nancy L Griffin was born was born December 17, 1938 in Brodgen, SC to the late Clarice Wilson Stewart and the late Ferdinand (Elizabeth) Stewart. Nancy was known to many as “Brandie” and “Duchess” Nancy accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Mulberry Baptist Church in Sumter. She served as a member of the Junior Choir. Nancy was educated in the public schools of Sumter, SC and was a graduate of Eastern High School Class of 1959 and was the Salutatorian of her class and the Editor of the School Newspaper. After graduation, she relocated to Brooklyn, NY. Nancy gained employment in New York working for Ideal Corporation, US Postal Service and eventually retiring from Photo Circuits in Long Island, NY. In 1966, she met and married the love of her life, Lionel Griffin and shared over forty years of marriage together and to this union two children were born, Sherrie Griffin and Adrienne Griffin. 1n 1994, Nancy rededicated her life back to Christ and joined Gethsemane Baptist Church of Deliverance under the leadership of the late Reverend Benjamin S. Kelley, where she served as floral member, First Lady Club Member, Pastor Aide, Kitchen Committee that fed the homeless throughout the week, the Missionary Club as well as the Gethsemane Bible Institute. In 2008, she returned to Sumter to care for her father and reunited with the Mulberry Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School Scholar, Senior Missionaries and Senior Citizen Ministry. She was a member of the Eastern High School Alumnae Association and was a member of their choir. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her two brothers, Richard E. (Jackie Boy) Stewart and Claude Stewart; her sister, Deloris Peggy Tomlin. Nancy departed this life on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Sumter, SC. Nancy leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Sherrie Griffin of Brooklyn, NY and Adrienne Griffin of Sumter, SC; three grandchildren, Ashanti Stuart, Demarius Pettway and Breiana Pettway; three great grandchildren, Isabella Ereri, Amelia Ereri and Ava Stuart; brother, Wayne Stewart; three brothers-in-law, Clement F. (Barbara) Griffin, Matt (Pearlie) Griffin and Russell Griffin; two sisters-in-law, Hermoneze Lang and Mary Bailey; two god sons, Albert Shephard and Tyrone Baker; adopted grandson, Dawayne Kirton, Jr.; her loving niece, Jocelyn House and a host of relatives and friends.
