Junior Calvin Parker

August 1, 1929 - March 10, 2020

Obituary Junior Calvin Parker affectionally known as J.C. was born on August 1, 1929 to the late Edna Parker and Alvin Whiteside in Blacksburg, SC, formerly known as Kings Creek, SC. He was raised by his mother, his grandfather, Evans Parker, his grandmother, Martha McGill-Parker also known as Ma Moppy and aunt Libby Parker. J.C. graduated high school in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduation he returned home for a while then enlisted into the Marines. After his tour in the Marines he relocated to Brooklyn, New York where he worked in the construction industry. The Lord gifted him with a major talent in Carpentry and all around builders talent. He worked and helped build various churches and homes in South Carolina and New York. He was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian church as a young man. When he returned to South Carolina he attended Young Grove Baptist Church. At a later age in life he accepted Gods call to preach and received ministerial papers. He was preceded in death by his parents and three children, Calvin Parker, Veronica Brown-Perez and Sarah Dukes-Mayes. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 in Sumter. He is survived by five children; Janice Dukes, Eric Parker, Theresa Parker, Erica Parker and Edna "Presence" Parker; two grandchildren, Christopher Perez and Shawn Dukes and a host of other relatives and friends.
